Graves County Schools will host a trivia night to benefit Relay for Life Friday, May 31, at Graves County Middle School. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the competition will begin at 7 p.m. Teams of six players each will compete for the three top prizes. The entry fee is $60 per team and teams may purchase up to six mulligans at $5 each. Registration must be completed by Friday, May 24. A wiffle ball tournament to benefit the Jake Hodge Foundation will be held May 31 – June 2 at Little Busch Stadium, located at 1301 South Jefferson Street in Princeton, Kentucky. Activities will include wiffle ball games, a corn hole tournament, batting cages, and a homerun derby. The entry fee is $350 per team but teams are encouraged to raise as much money as possible through sponsors. The tournament will consist of 12 teams and each team is guaranteed three games. Teams will consist of 9 to 12 players. The format will be three division round-robin with a four team playoff to determine a champion. West Kentucky Community and Technical College will host an ACT preparation seminar Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Emerging Technology Center. The five hour seminar is designed to help area high school juniors and seniors maximize scoring on each area of the ACT test. West Kentucky Community and Technical College will host two free hands-on Career Craze camps in June for students ages 12 to 15 interested in learning more about the healthcare and energy fields. “So You Want to Work in Healthcare?” will be held Monday, June 3 through Thursday, June 6 in the Allied Health Building. Students will learn about programs such as nursing, physical therapy, surgical technology, dental and hygiene assisting, and more. The second camp, “Exploring Energy and Alternative Energy Careers,” will be offered Monday, June 17 through Thursday, June 20, in the Emerging Technology Center. Students will visit a local power utility plant to learn how the electric grid works and have hands-on activities that explore wind and solar energy and how generators work. The Murray State University Trumpet and French Horn Workshops will be held Sunday, June 9 through Tuesday, June 11. The workshops are designed to provide an intensive experience for middle school and high school students.
