Donations are being accepted for the 9th Annual Community Yard Sale to benefit the Mayfield-Graves County Needline and Food Pantry. Yard sale items except clothing can be taken to First Christian Church at 111 South 9th Street through September 18 and dropped off from 9:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you are having a yard sale and would like your leftover goods picked up or if you have an item you need assistance with moving, call the church office at 270-247-2204. Items not sold at the yard sale will be donated to the JU Kevil Center or other local charities.

Court Appointed Special Advocates of United Way in Calloway County is actively seeking volunteers so that children who have been abandoned, neglected, or abused can have an adult voice in court. The program includes training which requires participants to become familiar with courtroom procedures and circumstances of assigned cases so that evaluation and recommendations that are in the best interest of the child can be made in court until a permanent plan for the child is created. The Murray Calloway Endowment for Healthcare at Murray-Calloway County Hospital will be hosting a stroke camp for stroke survivors, caregivers, and family members Friday, September 12 through Sunday, September 14 at Lake Barkley Convention Center. The camp offers a variety of activities tailored to the challenges stroke survivors are faced with, including crafts, games, music, water aerobics, and hiking/walking. There are also educational sessions, discussion groups, and informal chats with stroke experts. West Kentucky Community and Technical College’s second annual Paint Me RAD 5k Fun Run will be held Saturday, September 13. Radiography students are hosting a 5k and 1k run/walk to raise money for the Kettering Registry Review and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists examination fees. The 5k will begin at 5:00 p.m. and be followed by the 1k. Registration for the events will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Anderson Technical Building. Pre-registration is $25 before August 28 and $35 the day of the event. Children ages 12 and younger are $15 each.
